How to Accept a Ticket Transfer
By the TheTicketers editorial team · Updated November 2026
Short answer: open the transfer email or text, sign in with the email from your order, and press Accept. The tickets then appear in your account in the venue's or team's official ticketing app, and you show them on your phone at the gate. Every order on TheTicketers is backed by the 100% Buyer Guarantee, which promises your tickets will arrive in time for the event.
What a mobile ticket transfer is
With a mobile transfer, the seller sends the tickets straight into your own account in the official ticketing app the venue or team uses, such as Ticketmaster, AXS or a team's own app, instead of emailing you a PDF. The tickets stay pending until you accept them.
Many venues now issue mobile-only tickets with barcodes that live inside the app, so a printable PDF simply isn't available. For those events, a transfer is the only way the tickets can be moved from the seller to you, which is why many resale orders arrive this way. The delivery method for your order is shown at checkout before you pay.
How to accept a ticket transfer, step by step
- Open the transfer email or text. It comes from the venue's or team's ticketing platform, not from the seller personally, and usually has an "Accept Tickets" button.
- Use the same email address as your order. The transfer is tied to the email you used at checkout, so sign in with that address.
- Open or create your ticketing account. If you don't have an account on that platform yet, create one with the order email. Use the official app or website the email points to.
- Press Accept. Confirm the transfer so the tickets move from pending into your account.
- Find the tickets in your app's wallet. They appear under My Tickets or a similar section of the app, ready to show at the gate. If the app offers it, you can also add them to your phone's wallet.
If your transfer hasn't arrived
- Check your spam and promotions folders. Transfer notices come from a new sender and often land there.
- Check the email you used for the order. Transfers go to the order email, not a different inbox, and your order confirmation has the delivery details.
- Wait for the delivery date shown at checkout. Resale tickets are often transferred only once the venue or promoter releases the barcodes, so a pending transfer before that date is normal. Our guide When Will I Get My Tickets? explains why.
- Contact support. If the delivery date has passed and nothing has arrived, reach the TheTicketers support team through the contact page and we'll help under the Buyer Guarantee. If a covered problem occurs, you're entitled to a replacement or a full refund.
Don't screenshot your tickets
Many mobile tickets use a rotating barcode that refreshes every few seconds inside the app. A screenshot freezes the code, so it stops working and can be refused at the gate. Always show the live ticket from the official app or your phone's wallet. The same rule helps you avoid scams: a seller who offers only screenshots is a red flag, as our guide How to Spot Fake Tickets explains.
Frequently asked questions
What if the transfer went to a different email than my ticketing account?
A transfer is sent to the email address used for your order. If your ticketing app account uses a different email, either sign in to (or create) an account with the order email and accept the transfer there, or contact support before the event so we can help. Check the order email first, because that is where the transfer notice arrives.
What happens if a ticket transfer expires?
Some ticketing apps cancel a pending transfer if it isn't accepted within a set time, and the tickets go back to the sender. If your transfer has expired or the accept link no longer works, contact the TheTicketers support team through the contact page and we'll help under the Buyer Guarantee.
Can I transfer my tickets to a friend after I accept them?
Many ticketing apps let you send tickets on to another person once they are in your account, using the app's own transfer option. Some events limit or turn off onward transfers, so check the options in the app well before the event.
Can I add transferred tickets to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?
Many ticketing apps offer an "Add to Apple Wallet" or "Save to Google Wallet" button after you accept a transfer, but not every venue supports it. If you don't see the option, show the tickets from inside the official app at the gate.
Can my tickets be transferred on the day of the event?
Yes, some resale tickets are transferred close to the event because the venue or promoter releases barcodes late. The delivery timing for your order is shown at checkout, and the Buyer Guarantee promises your tickets will arrive in time for the event. Keep notifications on and check the order email on the day.
