About The Green Planet
The Green Planet is an indoor tropical rainforest biodome at City Walk in Dubai, housing over 3,000 plants and animals across four vertical layers — the Canopy, Midstory, Forest Floor, and Flooded Rainforest (an underwater section with arapaima fish and freshwater rays). The 60,000-square-foot structure is built around a 25-metre artificial tree whose trunk and branches create the framework for an enclosed ecosystem maintained at 28C and 70% humidity. Residents include two-toed sloths, toucans, sugar gliders, porcupines, over 50 species of free-flying tropical birds, hundreds of butterflies, poison dart frogs, and a colony of leaf-cutter ants with a visible network of trails. The experience is self-guided — you enter at the top (canopy level) and descend through the layers via walkways and bridges, encountering different species at each altitude. Animal encounters (holding a sloth, feeding toucans, touching a snake) are available as add-on experiences.

Tips for Visiting The Green Planet
Go straight to the sloth encounter when you arrive — it's the most popular add-on and limited to small groups. Book it at the ticket desk before entering.
The biodome is humid (70%) and warm (28C). Wear light clothing and leave jackets at the entrance locker.
Spend extra time at the canopy level where toucans and free-flying birds are most active in the morning feeding period (10-11 AM).
Children under 5 visit free but may be startled by free-roaming birds and the dark flooded forest section. Carry nervous toddlers through the underwater zone.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do Green Planet tickets cost?
General admission is AED 99 for adults and AED 75 for children (3-12). Children under 3 enter free. The Sloth Encounter add-on is AED 125 and the Piranha Feeding is AED 55. Online booking offers 10-15% discounts. The admission ticket includes all self-guided areas and the flooded rainforest.
How long does The Green Planet take to visit?
The self-guided walk takes 45-60 minutes at a normal pace. With animal encounters and spending time watching the sloth, budget 90 minutes to 2 hours. It's not a large space — the value is in the density of wildlife at close range rather than the square footage.
Is The Green Planet suitable for toddlers?
Children aged 3-6 generally love seeing real animals at close range, especially the sloths, toucans, and butterflies. However, some toddlers are startled by free-flying birds swooping near their heads and the dark underwater tunnel section. The canopy level is the most child-friendly. No strollers are practical on the narrow elevated walkways — use a baby carrier.
