About Dubai Aquarium
Dubai Aquarium sits on the ground floor of The Dubai Mall, its massive 10-million-litre tank visible through a 32.88-metre acrylic panel that holds a Guinness World Record. Inside the tank, over 33,000 aquatic animals swim freely — including 400+ sharks and rays, with the largest collection of Sand Tiger Sharks in any aquarium worldwide. The 48-metre walk-through tunnel puts you surrounded by marine life on all sides. The attached Underwater Zoo on Level 2 houses themed ecological exhibits: the Living Ocean zone features jellyfish displays and seahorses, the Rocky Shore houses penguins and otters, and the Rainforest zone contains piranhas, giant arapaima, and a 5-metre King Crocodile named Burt — one of the largest crocodiles in captivity. Interactive touch pools allow children to handle sea stars, sea cucumbers, and horseshoe crabs under marine biologist supervision.

Tips for Visiting Dubai Aquarium
Visit on weekday mornings (Sunday-Wednesday) before 11 AM when school groups haven't arrived and the tunnel is peaceful.
The combo ticket with Burj Khalifa saves AED 30-50. Buy both together even if visiting on different days — combo validity is usually 48 hours.
The glass-bottom boat (AED 35 extra) offers unique overhead views of sharks that you cannot get from the tunnel below.
Shark cage snorkelling requires no certification — it's accessible to non-swimmers standing in chest-deep water inside a cage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dubai Aquarium free to visit?
The main viewing panel is free to see from the mall. Entering the tunnel, Underwater Zoo, and experiences requires a ticket starting at AED 135. The free view is impressive but the tunnel (walking with sharks directly overhead) and the Underwater Zoo are worth paying for.
How many sharks are in Dubai Aquarium?
The main tank holds over 400 sharks and rays, including the world's largest collection of Sand Tiger Sharks (around 50 individuals). You'll also see zebra sharks, blacktip reef sharks, and massive eagle rays. Shark feeding occurs daily at 2 PM.
Can you swim with sharks at Dubai Aquarium?
Yes, two options exist. The cage snorkel (AED 200, no certification needed) places you in a submerged cage inside the tank. The cage-free shark dive (AED 800, PADI Open Water certification required) lets certified divers swim freely among the sharks for 30 minutes with a dive guide.
