Get TicketsSan Diego offers a laid-back but surprisingly deep entertainment scene fueled by perfect weather, passionate sports fans, and unique cultural events. Petco Park is the crown jewel of the downtown Gaslamp Quarter, home to the Padres and widely regarded as one of the best ballparks in the country with its open-air design, craft beer options, and views of the downtown skyline. The park also hosts concerts, soccer matches, and holiday events. Snapdragon Stadium at San Diego State University hosts the Aztecs and major concerts. Pechanga Arena in the Midway District presents touring concerts, family shows, and sporting events in its 14,500-seat arena. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park on the bayfront is a striking outdoor venue that is home to the San Diego Symphony's outdoor season and hosts a variety of concerts from spring through fall with stunning harbor views. The Balboa Theatre downtown and the Civic Theatre present Broadway touring shows and performing arts. For live music, the Casbah, Belly Up Tavern in nearby Solana Beach, the Music Box, and the Observatory North Park keep the scene vibrant. San Diego Comic-Con International each July is one of the largest pop culture conventions in the world, taking over the Convention Center and surrounding neighborhoods. The near-perfect climate with over 260 sunny days per year makes outdoor events comfortable almost any time, with summer and early fall being the peak season.

The Padres play MLB baseball at Petco Park downtown. San Diego State plays college football at Snapdragon Stadium. San Diego Wave FC plays NWSL soccer at Snapdragon Stadium. The Gulls play AHL hockey at Pechanga Arena. The city lost the Chargers to Los Angeles in 2017 and does not currently have NFL or NBA teams.
Comic-Con International typically takes place over four days in late July at the San Diego Convention Center. It draws over 130,000 attendees and features panels, exhibits, screenings, and appearances by major entertainment franchises. Badges are extremely limited and sold through a lottery system months in advance.
San Diego has one of the best climates in the country with average highs between 65F and 78F year-round. Rain is rare, especially from May through October. Coastal areas can have morning fog that burns off by midday. Evening outdoor events may require a light jacket as temperatures drop into the 60s. The weather supports outdoor events comfortably in every season.
