About Ski Dubai
Ski Dubai is a 22,500 square metre indoor ski resort inside Mall of the Emirates, maintained at -4C year-round regardless of the 45C+ summer heat outside. It features a 400-metre ski slope with five runs of varying difficulty (including the world's first indoor black run), a freestyle zone, a chairlift, toboggan runs, and a snow park with ice caves, a zip line, and snowball fights. The surreal contrast of skiing in a desert city is part of the appeal, but Ski Dubai is genuinely functional as a winter sports facility — the slopes use 6,000 tonnes of real snow refreshed nightly, and experienced skiers can carve intermediate runs at genuine speed. For non-skiers, the Snow Park section offers 2 hours of snow play activities including tubing, tobogganing, a climbing wall, and the Penguin Encounter — a chance to stand alongside King and Gentoo penguins for observation and photos.

Tips for Visiting Ski Dubai
Snow Park tickets (AED 180) include all activities except skiing/snowboarding and penguin encounters. Slope passes (AED 250+) add the ski runs.
All winter clothing is provided — jacket, salopettes, boots, socks, and gloves. You only need to wear normal indoor clothing underneath.
The Penguin Encounter (AED 190 extra) lasts 40 minutes and is limited to small groups. Book at least a week ahead — it sells out consistently.
Ski lessons are available for beginners (AED 200-300 per hour). The slopes are short but genuinely useful for first-timers to learn basics.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to bring my own ski clothes to Ski Dubai?
No, full winter clothing is provided with every ticket: insulated jacket, salopettes (snow pants), disposable socks, boots, and a helmet. Gloves are available for purchase (AED 25). Wear normal indoor clothing (long pants and a t-shirt) — you'll change in the provided lockers.
Can beginners ski at Ski Dubai?
Yes, the lowest slope is a gentle nursery gradient suitable for absolute beginners. Private lessons (AED 200+ per hour) are available with qualified instructors. The freestyle zone also allows practice at your own pace. However, experienced skiers should not expect Alpine-quality runs — the longest run is 400m with limited vertical drop.
How cold is it inside Ski Dubai?
The temperature is maintained at -1C to -4C depending on the zone. With the provided clothing, most visitors are comfortable for 2-3 hours. Children and those sensitive to cold may want to wear a long-sleeve base layer underneath. The Snow Park zones near the café entrance are slightly warmer than the upper slopes.
