About Museum of the Future

The Museum of the Future is a 77-metre-tall torus (donut-shaped) building on Sheikh Zayed Road whose stainless-steel facade is covered in windows forming Arabic calligraphy — poetry about the future by Sheikh Mohammed. National Geographic named it one of the most beautiful buildings on Earth. But unlike most architectural landmarks, the interior matches the exterior's ambition: seven floors of fully immersive environments transporting visitors to the year 2071. Each floor is its own world. Floor 5 places you aboard a space station orbiting Earth, complete with a simulated shuttle launch. Floor 4 recreates a bioengineered Amazonian ecosystem exploring how technology might heal the planet. Floor 3, Al Waha, is a digital detox wellness sanctuary with meditation pods and sensory chambers. The children's floor lets kids design virtual creatures that appear on screens. Nothing is static or text-based — the entire experience is spatial, cinematic, and designed to provoke questions rather than provide answers.

Tips for Visiting Museum of the Future

Book tickets 3-5 days in advance — the museum frequently sells out, especially Thursday-Saturday. Walk-up tickets are rarely available.

Start from Floor 5 (top) and work down. The narrative flow is designed to descend through layers.

Allow a full 2.5-3 hours. Each floor takes 25-40 minutes to absorb properly.

The gift shop on the ground floor sells exclusive merchandise not available online — architecturally themed items make unique souvenirs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the Museum of the Future take?

The average visit is 2.5-3 hours for all seven floors. Rushing through in 90 minutes is possible but defeats the purpose — each floor is designed as a slow, immersive environment. The children's floor alone can occupy kids for 45+ minutes.

Is the Museum of the Future suitable for children?

Children aged 6-14 are the ideal audience — old enough to engage with the immersive environments but young enough to be genuinely amazed. Ages 4-5 have their own floor (Future Heroes) but may be overstimulated by other floors. Under 3 is not recommended; the dark environments and loud audio can be unsettling for toddlers.

Where is the Museum of the Future located?

It's on Sheikh Zayed Road in the Financial District, directly visible from the Emirates Towers metro station (Red Line). The nearest metro is Emirates Towers — a 5-minute covered walk. Parking is available in the building basement (AED 20 per hour). The distinctive torus shape is unmissable from the road.
