Skydive Dubai's Palm Jumeirah tandem jump is widely regarded as the most scenic commercial skydive on Earth. You exit a Cessna Caravan at 13,000 feet (4,000 metres) directly above the Palm Jumeirah artificial island, experiencing 60 seconds of freefall at 200 km/h before your instructor deploys the parachute for a 5-7 minute canopy ride with aerial views of the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Marina, the World Islands, and Atlantis resort below. No experience is required — you are harnessed to a USPA-certified tandem instructor who manages everything from exit to landing. The 30-minute ground briefing covers your body position (banana arch) and hand signals. Instructors have minimum 3,000 jumps and the drop zone has operated since 2011 with an impeccable safety record. Professional videographers freefall alongside you capturing HD video and photos, which are edited and delivered same-day.

Tips for Visiting Skydive Dubai
Book 2-3 weeks ahead during peak season (October-April). The Palm drop zone has limited slots due to airspace near DXB airport.
Weight limit is 100 kg for tandem at the Palm. The Desert Campus allows up to 110 kg. Weigh-in happens on arrival.
Wear tight-fitting athletic clothes and lace-up shoes. No sandals, loose jewellery, or hooded clothing. GoPros are not permitted for tandem students.
Eat a normal breakfast but avoid heavy or greasy food. Mild nervousness is normal — the sensation after exit is not a stomach-drop feeling like a roller coaster.

Skydive Dubai operates under USPA (United States Parachute Association) and UAE civil aviation regulations. All tandem instructors have 3,000+ jumps minimum. Equipment is inspected before every jump and replaced on manufacturer schedules. Over 30,000 tandem jumps have been completed safely. Statistical risk is comparable to a long-distance car journey.
What is the difference between Palm and Desert drop zones?
The Palm Jumeirah drop zone (AED 1,899) offers views of the city, ocean, and the palm-shaped island — it's the Instagram-famous option. The Desert Campus (AED 1,399) jumps over sand dunes with less dramatic scenery but is 500 AED cheaper and has a higher weight limit (110 kg vs 100 kg). Both provide the same 60-second freefall experience.
What if I am too scared to jump when the door opens?
This is common — roughly 5% of tandem students hesitate at the door. Your instructor is trained for this and will give you a moment. If you ultimately cannot jump, you fly back down with no charge beyond a small aircraft fee (AED 200-300). However, almost everyone who hesitates ends up jumping — the instructor's calm guidance and the group energy carry you through.
